I really want to get back into my blog! I am sorry to my one reader if you are disappointed in my lack of posts.. life has been so busy! Mattie and I went to Santa Rosa last week for our babymoon :) It was such a great trip and just so nice to get away together to celebrate what is to come! We relaxed, ate, he drank a few mojitos :) and got a massage.. very nice! Thanksgiving break was fun too! It came and went really fast! We got to see friends during the break which was a lot of fun. Here are a few pics! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!! My favorite time of year!!!!!!!!

I am feeling sooo much better and truly am so excited and can't wait to meet Carter! Did I mention, it's a boy? Most everyone knows already, but in case you didnt! We had our big 20 week checkup last Monday (Halloween) and our boy looked great! This past weekend I went to visit my bestie Emmie in North Carolina and we had a blast! Thanks, Em for such a fun trip! I loved Raleigh and really cherished our time together. Love you!

Evie's shower was so much fun. I had the best weekend with some of my besties and really enjoyed them being here. in my big girl house :) they said it was crazy to see me in our grown up house... each day i am reminded i am an adult so i guess i forget! :) we had a great time getting ready from getting flowers, eating brownie batter, watching movies, enjoying margaritas, etc.. it was a great weekend. Thanks to my amazing Mattie for sleeping on the couch so Kerra could sleep in our bed! He was a trooper with all the women in the house. My grandfather is far more than a grandfather. He is one of my best friends. I am so grateful for my grandparents. God has blessed me so much with them. I can't ever remember a time when Papa didn't make me feel loved. He is such an Christian example to everyone around him. We gave him a surprise 80th birthday party a few weeks ago. What a wonderful Christmas we had! It is hard to believe it is over, but we are grateful for a new year full of new blessings to come! We had a wonderful Christmas season and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. I was soo excited about the White Christmas and it was Nashville's first since 1993. We have had a great December so far! We enjoyed a Preds game & yummy dinner at Mama Mia's with Leah and Luke, time with friends and this past weekend we went to Chattanooga to see Chris and Liz! It was a blast! Chris got a job there working for a law firm and Lizzy is a 5th grade teacher at Nolan elementary. They are really liking Chattanooga and it was so fun to be in their world for a few days! We are so thankful for them. One of the things we are most grateful for is our new Sunday school class. We have met some awesome couples who love each other and the Lord and it has really been such a blessing to us. We had a get together a few weeks ago and it was so much fun. We are hosting the Christmas party in a few weeks at our house and are really excited about that.

This is such a special week, a time to reflect on the past year and to be grateful for the year to come. I am constantly amazed and humbled by the many blessings in life. Even when I can't understand exactly what is going on in day to day life, I trust there is a God who is much greater than I could ever understand. "Give THANKS to the Lord, his LOVE endures forever!!!"

My FAVORITE time of the year is coming! I am sooo excited! I wish that it was Christmas all year round! I love Thanksgiving too and I am so thankful for a few days off next week. Work has been crazy and I am needing a vacation!
As for Christmas gifts, Mattie and I are giving each other a new computer for Christmas which is great! I am so excited! After the new year hopefully I will have a bunch of cool new tricks with my computer!

Summer Fun~

I am soo happy that fall is almost here! I am ready for this heat to end and for us to be able to enjoy the cooler weather. I don't think I have gotten to announce it yet, but my Rooms (Evie) is pregnant!! She is due March 17th and I am soo happy for her! She finds out this coming Friday what she is having and I can't wait to hear!

We went to Destin last week with Steve and Susan and had a great time! It was so fun to be back in Destin and truly felt like going home. I have so many wonderful memories from summers down there and it was nice to get back there. We ate many wonderful meals and got to relax by the beach and pool, which was much needed. Thanks to S & S for a wonderful 5 days!!!!

This coming weekend is Mattie's half iron man in Augusta! I can't believe that it is finally here!!!! Please pray for him on Sunday as he starts the race early in the morning!

Last but not least, we went to a new Sunday School class today that we both really enjoyed! We have been praying for some time that we would find a Sunday school class with young couples who are just starting to have kids or recently married & truly feel like our prayers have been answered. So thankful!

We had the BEST trip to Charleston. I seriously loved every second and M and I got to spend a lot of QT together which these days is rare. It's so hard because we both have such crazy schedules so we have to work at getting to see each other. We LOVED Isle of Palms (where we stayed) and can't wait to go back. We feel like thats our "place" :) Charleston was amazing too and we spent all day Thursday there. We took a carriage ride and were true tourists (which you know I spent many times asking.. "would you mind taking our picture??" -- annoying.) I need a tripod for life. Anywho... It was wonderful and such a nice break from it all. Love my Mattie (which I know I have already made that clear.. ) :0 XOXO

So, this is the season for babies!!! 2 of my dear friends (both Emilys) were due in August. Emily Monroe had Hudson Zachary Monroe on August 5th and Emily Fridrichsen is in labor right now having Avery Pearl Fridrichsen. We are soo excited to celebrate with our dear friends!!!! I got to meet Hudson on Saturday and he is precious! I am hoping that I get to meet Avery tonight and soo thankful she was born before we left for Charleston, I can already tell, she is very selfless :) SO proud of my friends and know they are going to be great mamas!!!

I have been doing a lot of praying & deep thinking lately. It's hard to go through any amount of life without both, especially prayer. I have ALWAYS believed in the power of prayer and just knowing that the Lord hears us when we pray has always been a comfort to me. It doesn't mean He doesn't hear us when we don't get an immediate answer, but I know through everything, He wants what is best for us, even when at times that is hard to swollow. At church yesterday, Mike talked about happiness and treasures. He said one thing that really stuck out to me: The Bible doesn't say much about happiness, it talks a lot of JOY but those are two different things. I feel like I always think "well so and so is doing this", "so and so is soo happy because they have ________." Happiness does not mean being right with God nor does unhappiness mean that we are not pursuing the Lord's will for our life. I just always seem to equate the too-- that when we love the Lord, we are going to blessed more with happiness. A verse that Susie and I memorized years ago was the main emphesis of the sermon... Matthew 6:21--- For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. I hope that this challenges you to pray and think where we are all putting our happiness and treasure..

I had the best birthday! It was celebrated over the course of a few days, just the way I like it! I swear I will be 80 and still wanting to have a party! Mattie and I had planned a fiesta for Friday night and he was sweet enough to get me a delicious cake from Katie Winstead-- A Perfect Bite, which was amazing! The fiesta was so much fun and we really enjoyed getting to have most of our friends together and getting to celebrate Summer! We missed the ones that couldn't be there!

We are loving our house and our neighborhood and are so thankful we moved to Fredericksburg-- our neighbors are amazing! More on them later...

Then, Sunday was Father's Day and we celebrated with the Wests at Cinco de Mayo! They picked out some amazing frames for me that I love! They are from the one and only Hot Pink!

On Monday (my actual bday!), Tammy brought some Starbucks to start the day off right and then we went to lunch at Puffy Muffin. The day was a good one and although I would have loved to have been laying by the pool sipping margaritas, I worked and it wasn't bad! Then, Monday night we went to Maggianos with my mom, dad, D, Mattie,Gran and Papa. It was soo much fun!

Thanks everyone for making my birthday soo special! I know 26 is going to be a VERY exciting year!! Many new beginnings!

In the midst of life, it's always so fun to have a baby shower!! Last Saturday was Avie's baby shower at our house! I hosted with such fun girls & we were so happy with the way it turned out. I have always loved flowers and wanted to have a green thumb, but have always failed when it comes to keeping flowers alive. I am proud to say that this season, I have tried a bit harder! With our house and upcoming parties, it makes me want to try my luck again at planting flowers. Mattie and I worked on the yard a few weeks ago, and then this past weekend, I planted some flowers. I planted impatients and begonas. I am very grateful to my parents, too, who came over last night and helped us trim all the bushes and clean up the front yard.. I realize that I should have done more yard work as a kid, so I would actually know what is going on! HA! Of course, at the time I probably stomped around and pouted when they asked me to help in the yard... kids... Now that I am more mature (haha), I will get outside and work :)

It's official, KAK is now Mrs. Christopher Hicks! We had a wonderful weekend and really enjoyed every part of the wedding festivities. Mattie got to play golf twice, which he loved & I got to see many of my dear friends which was so much fun!! Eliza and I went to see Sex and the City Thursday night and the fun went on from there. I am so thankful for the amazing friends that I met at Samford.. The bridesmaids luncheon was at Kerra and Chris-- we are soo happy for you!!!

Kat and Jordan are 2 of our dearest St. Louis friends. You may remember back last year we went to their fun wedding in Green Bay. We had been trying to work out dates for them to come for quite sometime and of course, they come the weekend of the flood! I kept telling them, "it will totally stop raining sooon!! i have never seen it like this!" Not only did it NEVER stop, but we got caught in downtown Franklin's binks trying to stay away from the tornado! We had a great time with them and they were so easy and fun to have in town. We took them to Loveless Cafe which was a lot of fun! They brought their baby (dog) Luca and he and Bentley were fast friends!! We really enjoy you guys and hope you will come back when it's a bit more sunny! :)

Miracles..

Miracles happen every day and I have always been a believer in that. However, it is in the times that you get to see a miracle happen so close to you that you can't help but being overwhelmed by the sovereignty of a mighty God who wants only the best for his children. My friend Leah Smith Lamphron and I have always known each other. Her mom was the one that taught my mom to sew for me when I was little & they have always been friends. Leah and I have never had an opportunity to cross paths, until recently. Matt and I found out that Leah and Luke lived in Fredericksburg and were so excited that we would have young couple friends to hang out with. Just at last months bunko, Leah and I were talking about when we wanted to have kids, different personal situations and realized that we both had WAY more in common than we ever imagined. Needless to say, we become fast close friends and truly believed that God had put us in each others life for a firm reason & were so excited to reconnect! She told me that night that she and Luke had felt called to adoption and that they were seeking different options and were really excited. A miracle happened and from the time that they got all their paperwork in to a few days later-- they were chosen by a mom in Salt Lake City! She was due to have her baby Tuesday, March 22nd and wanted them to come out there and they would get to be there for the delivery. Literally in two days, they found out they would have a son born! It was such an exciting time for them and I am so thankful that I got to be a part of it. Lucas Patrick Lamphron was born on March 22nd and Leah got to be in there for the birth.. they had a wonderful time getting to know the Mom and she gave Lucas to them with no hesitation. They got back last night and I am hoping to meet him today! I am soo happy for you all and thank you for letting me be a part of this miracle! Can't wait to watch him grow up! Love you!

WE are sooo excited for Emily and Jonas! They are going to be having a beautiful baby girl! Avery is due August 10th and is measuring perfect and doing great! Em and Jonas had a fantastic *REVEAL* party last Friday night that was so much fun. Emily made her famous cupcakes and put pink filing inside! We all bit into the cupcakes at once & saw the PINK! So exciting! We have been praying for sweet Avery since we heard you were preggo and will continue to do so! It's so fun to buy cute stuff!!! (for other people's babies!!) We love you! ALSO, our other two cuties are doing great too! Emma Grubb and Lofton Wood are healthy and happy and we are having so much fun getting to hang out with these two!! Life is happpy and sweet!

what a blast we all had in NOLA! It was so much fun to visit Dane and we all had such a wonderful time. I had only been once before and Dana was such a great tour guide. It was the most beautiful weather which made the trip even better. We went to eat beignets at Cafe Du Monde and they were FABULOUS! Yummy! We went and walked around the French Quarter and saw some scenes you can only see in New Orleans :) We ate great food and all got to catch up which was so much fun! I am so thankful for my dear friends, Dane, Em and Lindsay! Hoping to plan another fun trip soon!!!

Weekend Getaway!!

I am SO excited for the weekend. In about an hour, Emily is going to come get me and we are heading to B-ham. I'm going to get to see Eliza, Lindsay and Kerra (whom I have not seen in ages!!!) and we are going to go to Cocina (my fav)! Then, tomorrow morning, we are heading to NOLA! I haven't been there in ages, and can't wait to see DANA! Really looking forward to a girls weekend! (but of course, will miss my Mattie!!)

Recognition Dinner

Last Friday, Mattie had his annual Recognition dinner. I am always so proud of him when I get to go to these events and I really respect the company (Northwestern Mutual) that he works for. They truly are a company that gives credit not only to the financial reps, but to their spouses and family as well. I am so happy that when we have kids, Mattie will be able to come to their events and not have to always work through nights in order to provide for his family. He is truly loving his job & really giving it his all.. I am so proud of him! I pray that God continues to bless him as he is seeking out his calling in working with different individuals and families. He is truly making a difference in people's lives.. what else could you ask for in a job?

He and a few other guys are starting an office in the Green Hills area in the summer! Exciting!

I must say there are few voices in this world that can make me calm.. Johnny is one of them. The moment I hear one of his songs, my mind can go to a past memory, just like *that*.. I love that feeling. I had been to see him once when I was 16, and this was the first time for Mattie to see him. Davis, Mattie and I had a great time at the concert.. it was truly amazing. He has such a talent and is an incredible musician. We were 9 rows from the stage which was incredible!!

So.. lucky me, I got it. It was no fun and really had a kick to it. I hope that no one else close to me gets it.. PLEASE get your shot early! I could kill myself for not getting it before I was exposed!!! At least if it would have snowed a lot today it would have made my prisoner day #4 better. I am about to lose my mind. I really am feeling a lot better today though and am looking forward to resuming my "normal" life.

Christmas 2009

We had a wonderful Christmas.. full of family, friends, fun, and fellowship! We started off the season going down to visit Steve's dad (PawPaw) and his brother Maury. We always have fun getting to see them and it really started off the holiday week! We celebrated Suz's birthday on Tuesday night and then on Thursday night went to the farm for Christmas eve with the Cornelius family. D and I (and Mattie too!) also exchanged gifts, which is a tradition we have always shared. Christmas morning we woke up (at 6:40 a.m.!!) and opened our gifts and then headed over to my parents for our Christmas breakfast.. one of my favorite all time traditions. Gran and Dad make breakfast together- such a feast! Linley, Kathy and Josh joined us this year which made it fun. After opening gifts, we headed to the Wests. We enjoyed the afternoon, opening gifts, (which we got a WII from Santa West!)and ate a nice dinner prepared by Suz. We went back to the Naishes and watched the Titans game... sadly, it was a terrible game for Titans fans.

It was such a fun day and we are so thankful to be able to see all of our immediate family on Christmas! We are lucky!!!

Dear Friends..

As my favorite week of the whole year rolls around, it reminds me of so many things. I was telling Mattie the other night, I have had a deep conviction this year of the true reason for Christmas. I know we all know the true meaning, but sometimes I am truly overwhelmed that a tiny baby came so many years ago to be our savior!! One of my favorite Christmas songs sings, "His ears have heard an angel symphony... still Mary had to rock her savior to sleep..." I am humbled to think that he came to save the least of us, the ones that are so busy, stressed, & truly forget the meaning of Christmas-- especially standing in the mall traffic or finding out that something that we realllllyyy want is sold out! He is here with us! always! in the good, the bad, and the trying. Celebrate each day that He gives you and know that you are so blessed!!!

In this crazy season, take a second and thank the baby Jesus, who came to save us!

What an amazing gift he gave.. the ultimate gift!

I am so thankful for you & truly am blessed to have you as a part of my life!!
